Tech App: An introduction to computer software

We shall be talking about computer software today, which you will know some software and its uses, owners and their various categories they belong to in the Passionate ICT Journal named ATIGAT.Net.

Hope you have hear people saying or mentioning software all around and what then is Software ?

Well, when we talk about software particular, is a computer program or series of instructions that tells the computer hardware what to do, how to do it and when to do it.

For the above definition given, I may say it is true because there is no way we would be able to have access to our computers, if there is no software to be used.   

Works done by software:

There is no work you can do without software. This is because every task you will do on a computer hardware will require a software to make the transaction complete.

There are some that allows you to cause data stored in memory to be used in calculation. There are some that allows you to input data from the keyboard and store it in memory. Some works are the listed below:

=> Playing music: For you to play a music on your computer, you may require a special software for it and example of such is the VLC Media Player which is a software used for playing music.

=>Graphic design: For you to be able to design a better looking graphics, you may require a special software for it and example of such are the Microsoft Office Publisher, CorelDraw, Photoshop etc.

Having known the meaning of software and the works it can perform, let us take a look at the types and here are they listed below.

Types of Software:

Based on the number of jobs or works done by software, what I may say is that software is unlimited to the job it can do.

To begin with the types, I may say software is categorized into two 2 types and here are the listed below.

=>System Software

=>Application Software

System Software:

System Software is the type of software that consist of programs which controls the activities and all the operations of a computer hardware and its application between the user and the computer.

Without system software, there is no way the hardware will be able to funtion. This is because the system software is the one controlling all the operations of computer hardware application. With the system Software, I may say it has goten branches or types.

Types of System Software:

=>Operating System

=>Device drivers

=>Utilities

=>Language translator

Since you now know more about the system software and its types, then let us take a look at application software also.

Application software:

Application software is the second and the last type of software we shall be discusing on this journal.

Application software is the type of software which enables or allows you to solve a specific problem and also it helps you perform specific task on your computer.

It is called application software because you need to apply for it by downloading or purchasing it and install it on your computer for use which is unlike the system software which comes along with the computer. People choose to call application software as end user software. This is because when using it, only the user has to end what he or she is doing but it is unlimited to the works it can do.

Assuming you are thinking of how people are using computers in work places, schools, homes and the rest, I may say you are found of thinking of the examples of application software used. Examples are the educational software, entertinment software, design software, programming software etc. and these are the examples of such application software you were found thinking of.
