Ghana to launch first satellite in the year 2020.
Ghana has plan to launch its first satellite in the year coming 2020.
The Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute (GSSTI) and Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC), have recently outlined an upcoming journey towards the launching of first Satellite in Ghana. These groups (GSSTI and GAEC) have come up with a nice and memorable name for the Satellite to be launched called Ghanasat 1.
You will ask, will this be possible?
Yes, because the project would be a joint venture that will exist between the state(GSSTI and GAEC) and a foreign U.K-Based company named Menasat Gulf Group Public Limited which is the producer of a high resolution(1m) synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR), which is used for aerical imaging.
The phase two(two) will then see the main establishment a ground direct receiving station & the final of it will be the launching of the satellite in the year 2020 with facility for more integration of high resolution of the earth observation concerning the satellite constellation.
The then estimated project, is believed to start the establishment of a middle in 2015, for the receiving, processing & analysing of radar images from the COSMO-SkyMed satellite constellation of the Italian Space Agency.
This type of information, will be significantly used in specific areas such as;
After completion, this would enable Ghana & everybody to actually receive a satellite images & also other information from the tropical regions.
=> Maritime Management
=> Risk Management
=> Environmental Monitoring
=> Road transport
=> Security forces
=> Deffence & Intelligence Agencies
Also, the Chief Expertise Officer at Menasat (U.K-based company), Professor Riccardo Maggiora, briefed by saying, low inclination orbit at low altitude would therefore enable a short revisit time of 6 hours which means, images can be taken off any particular place, for a variety of times a day.
According to the Manager of remote sensing at GSSTI & as well as a research scientist at GAEC, Dr. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, states that; the information middle for example would help reduce the total cost of satellite picture procurement & also boost the National Spatial Development Framework.
Even with the provision of images through clouds, smokes & steam they could do measure tectonic & structure displacement rates.
Not only that, but they furthermore explained to stakeholders, the exceptional abilities of Menasats SARs.
This is the end of my report regarding Ghana's plan to launch the first Satellite in the year 2020.
Hope this information helps, kindly drop down your comments and show your interest by sharing it with friends on the social media networks.
